On Being a Noticer

October 5, 2017

I am a noticer and yes, I made this word up.  I think I was born that way. As a child I was always looking up or staring at the ground. Go on a walk with your favorite kid. You may see a red winged blackbird and hear your four-year-old granddaughter exclaim, “it sounds like a tiny scream!

Move closer to a tree and study the pattern in the bark. This tree looks swollen like something grew too fast within and almost burst its seams.

The knotty pattern of the backyard swing leaves me wishing my grandchildren were here today.

This pole bean has surpassed the expectation of what a bean should look like! Now I know the view that Jack had… They are mammoth! This is no joke, they are almost as long as my arm, I measured one at 15 inches! Incredible!
