God knows our deepest desires

Happy Sunday!

Consider this verse in Psalms:

“He satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 103:5 NIV

The *book I am reviewing is “The Seven Desires of Every Heart,” the authors, Mark and Debra Laaser write: “If you didn’t receive the seven desires as a young person, you will yearn for them from everyone around you, especially your spouse.

To fulfill the desires of your own heart, may help with unrealistic expectations you put on others, the consequence of not having your own desires met when you were younger.

How do you cope when someone else doesn’t meet your desires? Before you look to others to meet those desires, bring your desires to God.”

Like I did on Easter Sunday, writing my father’s name on a piece of paper and nailing it to the cross, we must give our unmet needs to God. Surrendering them to God involves recognizing your own attempts at false solutions that don’t work.

“It is a letting go. It is sad….as you grieve you will process the feelings you go through when you really realize that you have lost something…grieving takes time.”

“To process grief you need to talk about the loss to those who can relate and listen…others will hear you, and if they have been through a similar loss, will understand. They will affirm you for talking openly. They will accept you where you are and for who you are, a real blessing.

God wants to fill that emptiness with something real, something lasting. I’ve found reading God’s promises in the Bible have filled that place with such hope and a love that will never leave.

God blesses us: The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11 NIV

God keeps us safe: The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10 NIV

God gives us unconditional love and blessing: The Lord appeared to us in the past saying “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:2 NIV

God smiles on us: Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. Acts 14:17 NIV

God is eternal and will never leave: Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen. Psalm 41:13 NIV

God is our creator and affirms us: Do you not know? Have you not heard: The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. Isaiah 40:28 NIV

God is a giving God: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV
